Fire destroys Riceboro home

A fire that broke out late Thursday night  destroyed a Riceboro woman’s home. The blaze started shortly before midnight at 36 Briar Bay Road. The 62-year-old resident, who has not been identified, lived alone and escaped from the residence unharmed. According to family members, the woman lived in the home for 50 years. The Red Cross was called into assist.
Units from the Walthourville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Departments assisted the Riceboro Volunteer Fire Department to help bring the fire under control.
