Hinesville man dies in SC wreck

A Hinesville man died in a single-vehicle wreck shortly before noon Monday in South Carolina, authorities said.

A Mercedes recreational vehicle was traveling northbound on Highway 321 in rural Bamberg County, about a mile south of the town of Govan, when it ran off the left side of the road and struck several trees, South Carolina Highway Patrol Judd Jones said.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, Jones said.

Bamberg County Coroner Bill Duncan identified the driver as Gerald Cislon, 70, of Hinesville. An autopsy was to be performed at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston to determine cause and manner of death, Duncan said.

The female passenger was taken to Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg, South Carolina, where she was treated for injuries not considered life-threatening, Jones said.
