The Hinesville Police Department is investigating the stabbing of a man during a domestic dispute.

Detective Jeff Davis said the man was stabbed several times and has been transported to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah, where his condition was not immediately known.

Lt. Terronova Smith said officers responded around 5 p.m. Friday to the report of a domestic dispute at Regency Apartments on Sandy Run Drive. While an officer was interviewing a woman, the man who had been stabbed left the area, being driven by a friend, Smith said.

When the friend drove by the apartment complex, the woman pointed the man out to an officer, who initiated a traffic stop and found him bleeding in the passenger seat, Smith said.

Smith added that the man was alert, conscious and talking.
