July shooting suspect arrested

One of two suspects allegedly responsible for shooting a Walthourville man on July 23, has been arrested by U.S. Marshals.

According to a press release from Liberty County Sheriff’s Office Detective Capt. Tracy Jennings, Dominique Brown, 25, of Ludowici was arrested on Aug. 11. The release did not say where.

Brown and a second suspect Tevin Hendrix, 23, of Hinesville allegedly shot Dwayne Brackens when he answered his door, according to Walthourville Police Chief Bernie Quarterman.

According to the initial report, Brackens was at his home at 1002 Dunlevie Road with a friend. Brackens heard a knock on his door shortly after 2 a.m. When he opened the door he was shot several times.

Walthourville Police Sgt. Jerald Burgess found Brackens laying behind the door, bleeding from wounds in both legs.

He was taken to Liberty Regional Medical Center, then flown by helicopter to Memorial in Savannah.

According to the release Hendrix still has outstanding warrants.
