Sawgrass Lane, Riceboro

Deputies were dispatched to a possible fire at the South Newport boat ramp in Riceboro. Upon arrival, deputies found the center of the boat ramp on fire and no one around the area.
The call came from someone out of Jekyll Island, anonymously, and no return phone number provided.
Riceboro Fire Department was dispatched to the scene and extinguished the fire. The case is under arson investigation.

Drug charge

Paul Sikes Drive, Hinesville

A deputy observed a brown Impala with a tail light out, traveling on the wrong side of the road and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The driver continued and pulled the vehicle into the yard of a residence.
The subject then exited the vehicle and ran into the woods. The deputy gave foot chase and when he found the subject, he was lying face down on the floor with his hands tucked under his chest. The subject was then handcuffed and a search of the vehicle revealed a small container that tested positive for cocaine and marijuana.
The surveillance tape on the deputy’s patrol car showed the driver pouring out a bottle of beer. The suspect was arrested and transported to Liberty County Jail.

A complainant reported a contractor who was supposed to be making repairs at her home had made inappropriate advances toward her daughter.  
The complainant informed a deputy the contractor went to her house when she was not there, knocked on the door and, when her daughter opened the door for the contractor, he proceeded to lick his lips in a lewd manner at the young girl and make offensive noises. A detective was notified of the incident about the incident.
