Nine arrested in alleged drug ring

An alleged drug ring at Woodwind North Apartments has been broken up and nine people arrested Thursday, according to a Hinesville Police news release.

HPD Lt. Willam Oberlander, the department’s narcotics unit and Fort Stewart CID Drug Suppression Team conducted the undercover operation into alleged drug sales at the complex’s apartment 41.

During the operation alleged marijuana and prescription medications were purchased by agents from several individuals at the apartment. While making purchases, undercover agents reportedly saw numerous amounts of illegal drugs and weapons throughout the apartment. As a result, search warrant was obtained.

Thursday, officers executed the warrant, and seized $9,600 in cash, five 5 firearms, various amounts of alleged marijuana and cocaine, and prescription medication. Nine adults were also arrested and now face various charges:

• Darius Chapman, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

• Taizhun Nephew, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

• Tyreek Clemons, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and sales of marijuana.

• Latrae Nephew, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and sales of marijuana.

• Larry Knowling, possession of cocaine and he was also wanted out of Liberty County.

• Daylon Thomas, possession of marijuana.

• Devon Bratcher, probation violation.

• John Bernard, probation violation.

• Whitney Martin, possession of cocaine.
