Fort Stewart soldier Michael Justin Quick, 30, recently was arrested after he returned from a deployment to Iraq, said Long County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Tom Sollosi.
While Quick was overseas, authorities had been investigating allegations the soldier molested a 3-year-old girl who lived in Long County with her family.
Sollosi said the child’s mother told law enforcement officers the girl made comments alluding to an alleged molestation attempt. Medical and counseling services officials were asked to look into the case.
Sollosi said that after a joint investigation conducted in cooperation with Fort Stewart’s Criminal Investigation Division, a warrant was issued and the soldier was charged.
Sollosi said Quick returned to Georgia from Iraq on July 25. He was arrested and charged with molestation. The investigator said the man was released on bond after a bond hearing and first appearance before a judge.
