A Fort Stewart soldier was killed in a motorcycle accident Wednesday night in Long County.

Georgia State Patrol dispatcher Kay Drury identified the victim as Adam Cody Huckstep, 23, of Long County.

Huckstep, originally from Round Rock, Texas, enlisted in the Army in 2008, according to a news release from Fort Stewart Public Affairs. He most recently deployed with the 3rd ID in October 2009. Huckstep was scheduled to deploy this summer in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Georgia State Patrol Trooper First Class David Harris said he was called to the intersection of Elim Church and Lee Place roads at 9:25 p.m. after the 2003 Harley Davidson that Huckstep was riding slammed into the driver’s side of a 2008 Toyota Corolla, driven by Katamara Frasier, 35, of Lilburn.

After the impact, Huckstep was thrown from his bike and landed on the road. Harris said the soldier was pronounced dead at the scene.

The trooper said Huckstep was driving north on Elim Church Road and Frasier was heading west on Lee Place Road.
The driver of the Corolla was not hurt or treated for injuries.

Drury said the GSP Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team has been called in to investigate the accident.

In addition to the GSP, the Long County Sheriff’s Office, the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, a Long County EMS unit and the Ludowici/Long County Volunteer Fire Department also were at the scene.
