A 28-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with a fire Sunday that damaged the New and Not Shop in Hinesville.

According to Hinesville Fire Department Capt. Robert Kitchings, Nichole Stokes, was arrested Tuesday after allegedly admitting she started the fire. She made the admission during an interview at the fire department.

According to Kitchings, Stokes said she started the fire using cardboard boxes that were stacked against the rear of the building. After lighting the fire, she allegedly called 911 to report it. No motive was released.

The fire damaged the rear of the building and caused minor damage inside. Many of the clothing items inside the store received smoke damage.
