Woman injured in scooter crash identified

The woman who was seriously injured when her scooter and a car collided near Walthourville Thursday evening has been identified.

Yolanda Troconis, 47, was taken to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah after the crash. Her condition has not been reported.

Georgia State Patrol Trooper David Harris said Troconis was returning home from Hinesville on the scooter when she was hit by a 2003 Mitsubishi Gallant driven by Joel Secora, 36. The accident happened on Highway 84, about a mile west of Airport Road.

When she was struck, her helmet was knocked off, she landed on the vehicle, pushing in the windshield, and was thrown nearly 90 feet away.

The trooper said Troconis received serious injuries to her head and hand.

Secora told Harris he did not see the scooter.

Harrissaid Troconis was less than two miles from her home when the accident occurred.

Accident is currently under investigation.
