A gathering at a Midway residence took a violent turn when shots were fired from a passing vehicle, striking one woman, according to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s Detective Capt. Doug Snider said that around 1 a.m. Monday, during a gathering on Bill Carter Road in Midway, gunshots were fired at the group from the vehicle, striking a 28-year-old woman in the left foot. The woman, whom Snider declined to identify, was taken to Liberty Regional Medical Center and later to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah, where she was treated and released.
Snider is asking for the public’s help in identifying the shooter.
”This could have been much worse had multiple people had been struck by the gunfire,” he said. “We’re asking for the public’s help in apprehending the individual."
The public is asked to contact Snider or Detective Tom Tucker at 912-876-4555.
