Wreck at Airport and 196 tying up traffic

Update: A wreck at the corner of Airport Road and Highway 196 West in Hinesville tied up traffic for roughly two hours Wednesday. According to GSP Trooper Lyle Thurmond the wreck happened at 3 p.m. Three vehicles were involved and authorities had to re-route traffic around the area. Traffic headed westbound on 196 toward Gum Branch was closed for about two hours. 

Three people were injured. Two were transported by Liberty Regional EMS to local hospitals.
A helicopter ambulance was called in for an injured female, who was ejected from one of the vehicles involved in the wreck.

Thurmond said the accident is under investigation and several witnesses were being questioned. He added the extent of the injuries are unknown at the moment but the injured appeared awake and alert before being transported. Thursday afternooon Jessica Ann Sneed said her grandmother Virginia Ring was the female transported by Life-Star. Sneed said her grandmother was admitted to the hospital last night for observation. Sneed added her grandmother has no broken bones no internal or bleeding on her brain and was expected to be released to come home sometime today.
