Wreck shuts down Walthourville road for hours

A tractor-trailer hauling logs struck a car Wednesday afternoon at Talmadge Road and E.B. Cooper Highway in Walthourville, police said.

The woman driving the car did stop at a stop sign but then failed to yield to the truck, according to Georgia State Patrol Trooper Eric Wilkes.

The woman was transported to Liberty Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.

Trooper William Bowman identified the woman as Lakeisha Lee, 20, and said she was cited for failure to yield.

The wreck occurred shortly after 4:30 p.m. and E.B. Cooper was shut down for a few hours.
