ATLANTA – A corporate sales manager from Florida has won a $1 million Powerball prize from the Peach State. Bobby Latham of Miami matched the first five numbers from the Nov. 21 Powerball drawing, winning a $1 million prize.
Latham, 41, was visiting family for Thanksgiving when he purchased the lucky Quik Pik ticket at Parker’s #0028, 58 Old Sunbury Road in Hinesville.
Latham discovered he’d won after he returned home.
“I realized I didn’t win the Powerball, so I was about to throw it away,” he said. “When I got home, I double-checked online.”
Feeling good about his windfall, the lucky winner intends to put money aside for his 8-month-old son’s college education.
Winning numbers from the Nov. 21 Powerball drawing were: 8-18-24-30-39 and the Powerball was 26.
Wednesday’s jackpot is at an estimated $50 million to a single annuity winner. Powerball tickets are $2 per play.
As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Powerball will benefit education in the state of Georgia.
