Sunday night wreck kills 72-year-old

A 72-year-old man was killed Sunday night in a two-car accident in Liberty County.
A woman involved in the wreck was injured and flown to Savannah by LifeStar ambulance, but is believed to be in stable condition.
The accident happened shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Bill Carter Road about five miles east of Hinesville. According to GSP Trooper Jamie Wilson the vehicles collided near Highway 84 after one of the turned south onto Bill Carter Road.
Wilson said the woman was driving a 2002 Land Rover Discovery and that it left shoulder of the road, hit a light pole and rolled over. The man was driving a 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis that hit two trees after leaving the road.
The man was pronounced dead a the scene.
The woman who was flown to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, where she is listed in stable condition.
The cause of the accident is under investigation, Wilson said.
