The filing deadline for homestead exemption is approaching.
Applications must be filed with the assessors office by the close of business on Monday, March 3. If qualifications and filing deadlines are met, exemptions will be applied to 2008 tax bills.
Also, the deadline to file property tax returns (property owner's statement of value) is April 1. Personal property returns are also due by April 1.
As a reminder, all solid waste exemption applications must be submitted by March 3. Income verification along with a picture ID must accompany all mailed applications.
The Liberty County Board of Assessors will extend office hours on Wednesday, Feb. 27, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. to accommodate property owners who may otherwise miss the opportunity to file.
