A teenager passed away and another teen was wounded after a shooting at Hinesville’s Irene B. Thomas Park on Sunday night.
According to Hinesville Police Chief Tracey Howard, both victims, each 18 years old, were injured in a shooting shortly after 10 p.m.
Howard said a group of about 25 to 30 teens were gathered in the park when gunfire erupted, striking a male teen in the abdomen. HPD Officer Jeff Luie performed CPR on the teen till medical personnel arrived. The teen, whose name has not been released, was transported to Liberty Regional Medical Center in Hinesville where he was later pronounced deceased.
Howard said the other victim, a female, was shot in the leg and was transported initially to Liberty Regional Medical Center. Her condition is unknown and if she was later transported to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah.
