The City of Hinesville is hosting its 6th annual Tied to Success: A Male Empowerment Conference 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., Saturday Aug. 25 at the Liberty County Performing Arts Center. The event is a free, empowerment workshop for males ages 10 and older.

The event includes breakout sessions, speakers, musical entertainment and a keynote speaker. This year’s theme is #BlessUp, a term which received popularity by celebrity DJ Khaled, Community Development Assistant Director Kristin Bryant said.

“Our purpose is to reach the core of each young man that attends this event,” Bryant said. “The phrase encourages individuals to take advantage of all opportunities that are placed before them.”

The workshop includes multiple breakout sessions for different age groups.  Trey Searles will lead the 10-12 year olds, James Jones will lead the 13-15 year olds, Pastor Israel Aaron Cowart will lead the 16-19 year olds, and Pastor Richard Hayes will lead the adult class, ages 20 and older, Bryant said.

The keynote speaker is Dr. Torian White. He is the principal of Southeast Bulloch Middle School in Brooklet, GA, and a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., through the Sigma Theta Lambda chapter in Hinesville, she said.

“Dr. White is passionate about helping youth recognize the impact of their decisions, achieve their personal best and discover the genius within themselves,” Bryant said.

The musical guest this year is Florida native, rapper Lonnie “Fearless” Yancey. His performance will include his single Victory Lap, which relates to the event’s theme, Bryant said. He’s performed with Grammy Award winning artists Flame and Canton Jones, she continued. Yancey has been featured as a contestant on America’s Got Talent, and has appeared on Channel 4 News River City Live,

“We are very excited for this year’s event because of all the wonderful things we have planned,” Bryant said.
