A 2-year-old boy was killed in Long County when his mother accidentally ran over him Monday afternoon.

Long County Sheriff Craig Nobles said the mother was moving her vehicle into a shaded area on Paige Lane when the child darted behind the vehicle and she ran over him shortly after 1 p.m.

The child, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.
