The Liberty County Development Authority announced today that Tradeport East and West Business Centers have been deemed "Georgia Ready for Accelerated Development" sites by the Georgia Allies, a public-private partnership focused on economic development marketing.
"The GRAD designation for Tradeport East and West means that they can truly compete on a global stage for new industry and the accompanying jobs," said Charles R. Gatlin, executive director of the Georgia Allies. "I fully believe that Liberty County's efforts to attain the GRAD status for Tradeport East and West will be beneficial."
Tradeport East and West make up Tradeport Business Center, a 5,300-acre mixed-use development, which straddles I-95 and is located 30 minutes south of Savannah and 90 minutes north of Jacksonville.  Tradeport East and West offer shovel-ready sites with foreign trade zone designation.
IDI, one of the nation's leading industrial developers, has committed to purchase an initial 300 acres (with an option to takedown 1,000 total acres) in Tradeport East, and they already have constructed a 502,000 square-foot speculative building. IDI is currently preparing five building pads ranging in size from 200,000 to 1,200,000 square feet in preparation for potential projects in the future.
Tradeport East is already home to Target's 1,500,000 square-foot regional distribution center and The Tire Rack's 242,000 square-foot distribution center. Tradeport West offers large rail-served sites.
The GRAD designation indicates that Tradeport East and West are market-ready. The designation also includes several tools to market the sites, including:
• Featured listings on the Georgia Allies Web page, GeorgiaFacts.net
• Highlighted listings on the industrial site sections of major utility Web sites
• Continued presence on Georgia Allies electronic newsletter targeted to companies and location consultants
• Site awareness for statewide project managers and Georgia Allies partners
"We are extremely pleased to receive the GRAD designation for both Tradeport East and West," said Ronald E. Tolley, chief executive officer of the LCDA. "With the Georgia Allies promotion of our sites, we believe we will be better poised to market Tradeport East and West to the statewide development community, site consultants, and prospects."
