Truce may end east-end water war

With the development authority meeting at 7:30 this morning and the Midway City Council gathering in special session this afternoon, today may see the resolution of the annexation and water/sewer dispute over the Sawgrass Landings development at the Highway 84 and I-95 interchange.
Construction at the development had come to a halt as Liberty County and Midway negotiated over a petition by the developer for city annexation which was linked with provision of water and sewer service.
The LCDA’s meeting today is billed as a planning session; the authority has already authorized Chairman Allen Brown to sign a compromise agreement with Midway.
The Midway City Council agenda lists two action items: the annexation petition and master plan for Sawgrass, formerly known as Liberty Gateway at Martin Plantation, and “water agreement resolution.”
