Two people who sustained gunshot wounds Monday afternoon in Hinesville have been released from the hospital.
Authorities are seeking a person of interest in the incident.
According to Hinesville Police Department Detective Kyle Larimore, a couple was shot by a third party during an altercation at a mobile home park in Hinesville shortly before 2 p.m.
Larimore said officers were dispatched to the mobile home located on the 1300 block of South Main Street. When officers arrived, they discovered the two victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
Assistant HPD Chief Tracey Howard said one victim sustained a wound to his head, and another was shot in the buttocks.
Howard said the male victim was outside his mobile home when an assailant shot at him, grazing the victim’s head. The woman who was shot was inside the home when a stray bullet went through the exterior of the home and embedded itself in her buttock.
Both were transported by ambulance to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah where they received treatment for their wounds.
Chief of Detectives William Oberlander said this was not a random shooting, and that the couple and the gunman were acquainted with each other.
Both Larimore and Oberlander emphasized there is no danger to the public.
