Walthourville Mayor issues public statement regarding drains
Walthourville seal

City of Walthourville Mayor Larry Baker has issued the following statement regarding the City drains:

"I Mayor, Larry Baker would like to take this time to speak with the citizens of Walthourville. I would like to address the on-going drainage issues within the city. I am diligently working to resolve all issues. The City of Walthourville does not have the appropriate equipment to handle such tasks and therefore is working thru the inter- governmental agreement with Liberty County to address the citizens’ concerns. The city is making progress towards acquiring the proper equipment; however, it is very expensive, nevertheless I continue to seek resolutions and have petitioned for a grant to help alleviate the city’s drainage issues along with other issues. In concerns to Talmadge Road, the Department of Transportation is advancing in the cleaning-out of the roadside ditches. In regards to the local drainage there is a process that must be adhered to. The city must acquire the right of way and easements to proceed. Once these are received, they must be reviewed and recorded. As Mayor, I am taking all feasible steps in resolving these on-going issues that existed prior to my term and would like to thank the citizens of Walthourville for their patience and understanding in this matter."
