Williams, a Midway Democrat, beat challenger Sabrina Newby 3,7272,329, capturing 61.5% of the votes cast in the primary.
“It was a landslide,” a jubilant Williams said Tuesday night in his quest for a 13th term in the General Assembly. “It makes me think my work is not in vain. Folks appreciate what I have done. I try to do everything I can to help Liberty County, and I will continue to do that.”

A runoff between David Sikes and Dwayne Gillis will be held for the Republican candidate for the state Senate District 19 seat, which was without an incumbent when Blake Tillery opted to run for lieutenant governor. The winner of the runoff will face Joshua Wilkerson, who won the Democrat primary against Eduardo Delgado.
