Cigarette litter prevention “coasts” into Coastal GA
Georgia's Coast
In a coast-wide educational outreach effort, coastal Georgia restaurants and pubs will distribute a combined 25,000 cigarette litter prevention messaged drink coasters on Friday, Aug. 23.

In the continued promotion of cigarette litter prevention, the GEORGIA’S COAST IS NOT AN ASHTRAY “drink coaster outreach effort” coasts into area pubs and restaurants Aug. 23. Using GEORGIA’S COAST IS NOT AN ASHTRAY branded drink coasters, participating local establishments in Georgia’s six coastal counties will reach a targeted population with educational information discouraging the littering of cigarette butts.

Made of cellulose acetate, a type of plastic, cigarette butts do not easily biodegrade and are the nation’s number one most littered item.

“Cigarette butts are so small and some people do not think they are littering when they just throw them on the ground. By teaming up with local restaurants and pubs it allows us to reach a designated audience with important cigarette litter messaging,” said Keep Liberty Beautiful Executive Director Karen Bell. “With the support of the restaurants and pubs that will be using 25,000 messaged drink coasters to educate locals and visitors about cigarette litter.”

Participating pubs and restaurants include:

Izola’s Country Café, Good to Go Jamaican Restaurant, Zum Rosenhof German Restaurant, Sunbury Crab Company, Rodeo Mexican Restaurant, Ruby Tuesday, Long Horn Steakhouse, Ole Times Country Buffet, Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill, Panera Bread Company, El Cazador Mexican Restaurant, Smokin’ Pig, The BBQ Joint, Angie’s Diner, IHop Restaurant, Pizza Peddler, Kobe Japanese Steak House, JJ’s Bar & Grill, NY Eats!, La Quinta Inn & Suites’ Blue Fountain Lounge, That’s Italian Pizza & Pasta, Gata’s Sports Bar & Grill, Captain Joe’s Seafood Midway, Southern Sweets Cafe & Bakery, Golden Habachi Buffet, Barberitos A Southwestern Grille & Cantina, Doodles Billiards, BBQ Haven, Mr. Pizza Midway and Melody’s  Café.
