It's time to close Southern borders
Letter to editor

Editor, Mexico and Guatemala have finalized a deal that will allow Guatemalans (who normally would be arrested and deported or imprisoned in Mexico) to travel on 72-hour passes through Mexico on their way to our Southern border.
This is a direct attack on the United States by Mexico. We should retaliate by closing all Mexican borders and not allowing any products produced or grown in Mexico to reach the U.S. We must establish economic sanctions against Mexico to punish them.
You can do your part by not buying anything from Mexico. All imported items must declare their country of origin on the packaging. Speak up and let the managers of Food Lion, Kroger and Walmart know your feelings.
Why is President Barack Obama allowing our country to be invaded? What does he have against his own country? It’s time to close all border crossings and place the military on the border.
We invaded Iraq because of supposed weapons of mass destruction. Guatemala is sending disease into our country with these children to cause an epidemic. In ancient times, armies would use disease to attack fortified castles. This is a modern version of that warfare.
Many of these children have diseases that we eradicated years ago in this country, such as tuberculosis. It is certainly not their fault, as the children got these diseases from substandard living conditions, but we are not financially able to cure the world, especially since — even with Obamacare — we still have people here who go without medical care, including our veterans.
It’s time for the president to act like a president and protect this country.
