Keep Liberty Beautiful

Keep Liberty Beautiful, and Mr. Joseph Ealy, from 104 Logistic LLC, wants to help Liberty County at our next Recycle It! Fairs. We all know that tires are very convenient when attached to your vehicle and help you get around daily. Unfortunately, when a good tire goes bad, it may not be disposed of correctly.

Tires eventually wear out or are damaged and have to be replaced. All tires should be turned in for recycling or reconditioning for continued use.

About 83% of tires are now recycled each year.

Unfortunately, thousands still end up in local landfills or people’s yards.

Sadly, they are dumped illegally into creeks and wooded areas by individuals. These individuals that leave these tires are breaking the law and creating environmental and health hazards.

Now is the time to start getting ready to turn in your unwanted tires.

On November 19, 2022, Joseph Ealy, the owner of 104 Logistic LLC, will partner with Keep Liberty Beautiful to hold a Tire Round-up for Liberty County residents. 104 Logistic LLC provides freight management, logistics, and business solutions. Founded in Midway by a local military veteran and entrepreneur. 104 Logistic LLC, located at 104 Raven Road, Midway is also a scrap tire collection site. You can arrange to have your tires recycled for a fee. 104 Logistic LLC is a fast-growing transportation and logistics company.

The event will be held at the Liberty County Community Complex in Midway, 9397 East Oglethorpe Hwy (Hwy 84), from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

• This event is for Liberty County residents only. We will ask for proof of residency.

• Tires generated from commercial ventures will not be accepted.

• We will only accept tires off the rim for cars, SUVs, and light trucks.

• Semi-tires or large racing slicks will not be accepted.

• There will not be a fee for the tires turned in. We do not do these events very often. Still, periodically it is helpful to hold this type of event to encourage local residents to turn in tires they may have around. Tires are breeding grounds for mosquitoes. Tires are also attractive living areas for several local “critters,” such as snakes. I dislike snakes and mosquitoes, so please turn in any tires you may have hanging around.

Tires that are collected but cannot be reconditioned with new tread can be recycled and sent to companies that reprocess them. Old tires can be shredded or melted down to make other materials, such as asphalt to pave roads or mulch to create playground surfaces. Isn’t that a better option for tires than spending an eternity in a landfill? So, I encourage you to bring in any tires around your home.

Once again, this is NOT an option for tires generated from commercial ventures. We will only accept tires from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 19. Any tires left in the vicinity before or after the event will be treated as an illegal dumping violation.

The collection location will be under camera surveillance, so I encourage people to abide by these rules. Illegal dumping penalties are pretty severe. According to the Georgia Comprehensive Litter Prevention and Abatement Act of 2006 Code Section, it is a felony punishable with a fine of up to $25,000 and a five-year prison term.

So, if you are thinking about dumping tires, think twice.

Please round up your tires and encourage your neighbors to do the same. You might help reduce the mosquito population. That is something we can all enjoy!
