Letter to the editor: Be a part of 2022 Back-to-School Rally
Letter to the Editor generic

Dear Editor,

We would like to invite you to the 24th annual Back-to-School Rally hosted by Project Reach G.A.N.G. Inc. G.A.N.G., “God’s Anointed Now Generation,” is a non-profit youth and community organization. The rally will be on Saturday, July 9, 2022, 10 a.m., at Midway Middle School, 425 Edgewater Drive, Midway, GA 31320.

The rally will be live streamed along with a Resource Drive-Thru.

Free school supplies, health checks, DJ entertainment, refreshments, and much more.

Last year over a thousand bookbags were handed out from our station alone, and there were 46 other station setups, and over 300 vehicles came through. Each station was prepared with resources for all grade levels. We are expecting a greater turnout for rally 2022.

The drive-through is a safe, productive way of ensuring everyone is following the CDC guidelines.

There were zero reports of anyone contracting the virus at the rally.

Fifty COVID-19 tests were taken.

This year will feature testing, vaccines (age groups to be determine), and a United Way of Liberty County Food Giveaway.

This is not a fundraising event, so there is no selling of any kind.

Project Reach G.A.N.G. Inc. would like to invite you to be a part of this event by setting up a station to give out resource information about your business, organization, church, or personal projects, along with school supplies and more.

This is a fantastic opportunity to inform Liberty County and surrounding areas about your business or organization, along with giving back to our communities and preparing our students for the upcoming school year.

We know this year, more than ever, families will need help with purchasing school supplies. The theme for this year is “Focusing on the Now! Preparing for the Future.” This will happen as we join forces together to support our students and school district in whatever way we can.

Setup time is on Saturday morning from 8–9:15 a.m. the day of the event. All stations must be set up and ready to go by 9:30 a.m. The event will be live streamed along with community leaders greeting the families. The drive will start at 10 a.m. and end at 1 p.m. We will follow the guidelines of the CDC: social distancing, wearing masks, gloves, and the constant use of hand sanitizers.

You may contact Project Reach G.A.N.G. Inc. for a booth space.

You will need a table, folding chair, and popup tent for those not stationed under the ramp covering.

We will let you know if a tent is needed.

June 18, 2022, is the deadline to register. However, the earlier you register, the better spots you will receive.

Please note that families will remain in their vehicles and we, the collaborative partners, will pass out the resources to the number of students in each vehicle. Vendors, we ask that you pre-package your giveaways.

This year to ensure each vehicle receives supplies, we will color- code the vehicles and stations.

Each station will have a colored number card (this is the station where you will be located). Each car will have a color card on its windshield with the number of students that need. They will only stop at the station that matches the color card on their windshields. (Station 1 Purple — purple car card; Station 2 Green — green car card; Station 3 Yellow — yellow car card, etc.)

Hopefully, this will help to serve everyone.

There is no charge for a booth space. However, if you would like to sow a seed toward this noteworthy project, you may make all checks payable to Project Reach, P.O. Box 465, Riceboro, GA 31323 For more information, you may contact Lavonia LeCounte, Executive Director, P.O. Box 465, Riceboro, GA 31323; (912) 977-3951; projectreach_gang@yahoo.com.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Lavonia LeCounte, Executive Director, Project Reach G.A.N.G. Inc.
