Special Olympics volunteers deserve thanks
Letter to editor

Editor, I would like to personally thank Fort Stewart EFMP, Reaching Milestones and all the wonderful military and civilian volunteers who came out to support our annual Special Olympics Spring Games. The competition would not have been successful without such tremendous support from the Hinesville and Fort Stewart community.
A special thank-you goes out to Jimmy Martin and the Liberty County Recreation Department for their help and graciously allowing us use of Long Bell Stadium.
I have worked very diligently for the past few months, organizing and coordinating our local spring games. However, the long hours I have endured while planning this event were well worth it after seeing the never-ending smiles displayed by our Special Olympics athletes.
I look forward to another great turnout at our Winter Games at Marne Lanes in December.
Once again, thank you to all who came out and supported our local Special Olympics athletes. You helped create an exciting and memorable day for each of them.

— Debbie Tomkiewicz,
Liberty County Special Olympics
local coordinator
