Dear Liberty County residents,

I’m Ronda Walthour, your interim Elections Supervisor. I’ve worked in the Liberty County Elections Office for 14 years, and am eager to continue to serve you in my new role. My duties include hosting elections according to Georgia laws and county rules to ensure elections are safe, secure, accurate and accessible to voters of all abilities. I oversee qualifying candidates, following legislative updates, managing voter registration, hosting advance voting, supervising absentee voting and offering voter education. I regularly attend continuing education classes for elections, participate in seminars and join in a weekly statewide conference call led the Georgia Director of Elections.

I’m launching a Facebook page for election news at Liberty County Elections soon. Here’s some important information to know:The Secretary of State is NOT mailing out absentee ballot requests again. Please contact Liberty County Elections Office at 912-876-3310 or go to www.libertycountyga.com, select Board of Elections and Registration under the Department tab and choose the absentee ballot request form under documents.  Print an application and to mail to: 100 N. Main Street, Suite 1600 Hinesville, GA 31313. During this COVID-19 global pandemic, Liberty County Elections Office wants to ensure all voters are safe. While Georgia law hosts three weeks of Early Voting, along with a Saturday voting to reduce lines; I strongly encourage voters take the initiative to request an absentee ballot and return it by election day at 7 p.m. by mail to 100 N. Main Street Suite 1600 Hinesville, GA 31313 or deposit it in the secure ballot dropbox in front of our office.

When completing your absentee ballot, include a phone number and/or email address in case we need to contact you about your ballot. Remember to follow the instructions by completely filling in the oval for your selections. Do not write any stray marks on your ballot. Sign the oath on the envelope before you submit your ballot.

If you choose to vote in-person, try to cast a ballot during the three weeks and Saturday of Early Voting. Masks are not mandatory, but strongly recommended. If you decide to vote on Election Day, remember to pack your patience. We are expecting a record turnout for the November Presidential Election. I want to thank The Coastal Courier, for always supporting the Elections Office and allowing us to continue to inform voters in Liberty County.
