The Long County baseball team lost 12-2 to Pierce County on Tuesday, dropping their third game in four outings. Losing the Region 2-AA game in Blackshear hurt the Blue Tide and their region record fell to 2-6. The squad is now three and a half games from that crucial No. 4 spot in the region.
Tonight, the Tide plays Appling County at home. The Pirates are Region 2-AA’s "cream of the crop" with an overall record of 15-3 and a region mark of 9-1. Appling also comes into the game on a six-game winning streak, which includes a 10-0 victory over Benedictine Military School on Tuesday.
The Tide’s overall record sits at 6-8, and they’re in need of a region win, having lost three of the last four 2-AA games. When the Tide and the Pirates met last month, Appling squeaked out a 3-2 win.
Tonight’s game is at 6.
