LUDOWICI -- The Long County High School baseball team picked up its third win in a row Wednesday and improved their record to 3-1.
However, the game against Tattnall County was no gimmee as the team went into the sixth inning down 4-1. But the Blue Tide bats started connecting down the back stretch, scoring 7 runs in the inning and then adding 1 more in the seventh, to get the come-from-behind victory 9-4.
The winning pitcher for the Tide was senior Stetson Strickland.
"We had another great team effort, and it took everyone on our team to beat a tough Tattnall County team," LCHS head coach Brian Thomas said.
Over the last three games, the Blue Tide has put up 36 runs, averaging 12 per contest. For the year the Ludowici team is averaging 9 a game, while only giving up 2.75 runs.
In the 2-AA Region standings the Pierce County Bears are on top with a 4-0 non-region record, Charlton County High School is in second with a 3-0 record, and the Blue Tide are in third with a 3-1 record.
None of the teams have started region games. They begin next week.
The Blue continue to show improvement, and have already come within one win of matching their total victories for 2007.
Long County takes on 3-AAAAA Windsor Forest High School Monday. The Knights will be looking to pick up their first win of the year.  The Knights are coming off a competitive 3-0 loss to Claxton High School, but bring a 0-3 record into game.
The game will be in Ludowici, and the first pitch will be at 6 p.m.
