Four members of the Long County High School baseball team recently were selected for All-Region 2-AA honors.
Clay Strickland earned the top honors for the Blue Tide by making the first team as a third baseman. Earning second-team honors were pitcher Ryan McGowan, shortstop Brian Lester and utility player Matt Strickland.
The selectees helped lead Long County to a 12-16 overall record and an 8-6 mark in the region. This season also was the first time since 2006 that the Blue Tide made it to the playoffs and the first time as a member of Region 2-AA.
