Dozen Long County athletes advance to region
Track and Field

Long County had 12 athletes either bring home medals or advance to the regional championship during the recent Region 2-AA track meet in Statesboro.

It was one of the school’s best showings in recent years.
For the Lady Tide, Cameron Taylor brought home two gold medals in the 800-meter and 1-mile race.
Anahza Kincaid, Ja’Nya Bryant, Keke Calhoun, and Katie Estill won silver medals in the 4x100 team race. Trinity Hall, Ellexxuss Wrighton, Estill and

Calhoun also won silver in the 4x400 relay race.
Bryant won a silver medal in the 200 meter dash and a bronze in the 100 meter dash.

Other girls qualifying for the regional were Dewayn’Nae Singleton, Mya Howard, Makayla Jackson and Ravae Rose, who made it in in the 4x400 relay, Mallaka Elix in the 2-mile run and Howard in the long jump.

Qualifying for the Blue Tide was Tariq Carpenter who won a bronze medal in the high jump.
The regional championship will be Friday in Fitzgerald.
