McRae is averaging 22. 7 points per game. Just behind McRae is Sydney King forward Josh Childress, who is averaging 22.1 points per game.
According to Melbourne United’s website, should McRae and Childress maintain their scoring averages it will be the first time in 30 years that two players in their first NBL seasons will finish first and second in league scoring.
Last weekend, McRae helped his team win two overtimes games by scoring 30 points in the back-to back victories Friday and Sunday. On Friday, they beat rival Wollongong Hawks, 103-98. On Sunday, Melbourne United dropped the Kings, 105-101.
McRae made a quick trip home at the beginning of the month when his girlfriend, Nicole Mack gave birth to his second son, Jordan Jr., two weeks earlier than expected. After briefly visiting his newborn son, his older son Jaheim Greene and his girlfriend and finding everyone doing well and healthy, McRae was back in Australia, barely missing a game.
Melbourne United will host the Perth Wildcats at 2 p.m. Dec. 28.
