First Presbyterian Christian Academy boys’ basketball team had three consecutive wins this week.
The Highlanders beat Twiggs Academy 87-48 Tuesday in Jeffersonville. Thursday night, FPCA beat Coastal Home School at the St. james Sports Center in a heated matchup 88-72. Friday, the Highlanders toppled Citizens Christian Academy 78-48.
Tuesday night, Khalyn Weekley led FPCA in scoring with 20 points. Simon Steele dropped in 16, Isaiah Scott 15, George Mitchell 14, John Killough 11, Jimmy Ouyang five, Antoine Graham and Marcus Williams scored three each and Sensier Carnes two.
Thursday, Mitchell led the way with 21 points and Steele right behind with 20. Killough added 17, Weekley 15, Scott 13 and Ouyang two.
Friday, FPCA charged to a 16-8 lead against the Patriots. The Highlanders shut down CCA, allowing only two more points before the half. At intermission, FPCA led 39-10.
But the Patriots came out of the locker room fighting. CCA dropped in 38 points to the Highlanders’ 39 for the second half, which also saw CCA shoot 7 of 10 from the line.
But Weekley was 7 of 7 in the fourth quarter, and the Highlanders’ quick start kept them ahead for the win.
Weekley had 23 points Friday. Steele added 17, and Mitchell scored 16 for the double-digit scorers.
Highlander coach Shane Smith said he was pleased about the addition of Mitchell to his squad and the return of Weekley, who had missed a few games.
FPCA is 5-2 overall and 3-0 in Region 2-AA of the Georgia Independent School Association, according to maxpreps.com
FPCA plays at Robert Toombs Christian Academy in Lyons at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The Highlanders host Memorial Day on Friday.
