First Presbyterian Christian Academy opened the basketball season at Claxton Thursday, and the Highlanders won 77-61.
Coach Shane Smith said his boys were a bit rusty, but said he was pleased they pulled out a win in their first game against a public high school.

Lighting up the scoreboard was Highlander Khalyn Weekley. He had 32 points and was 4-of-6 at the line. Sophomore Isaiah Scott chipped in 15 points and Simon Steele added 14 and was 5-of-7 at the line.

Trayvon Harris was 6-of-7 at the line and dropped in 10 points. Senior George Mitchell added six points.
Despite being rusty, the Highlander sharp shooters were finding the bucket from mid-court.

Scott hit one trey, while Mitchell dropped in two of his own and Steele hit five three-pointers, three of which were back-to-back shots.

Lady ’Landers
The Lady Landers played the Lady Tigers in the early game. The Lady Landers fought valiantly, Smith said, but lost 32-24.

The Highlanders’ next games will be at Bulloch Academy Dec. 2.
