The First Presbyterian Christian Academy’s week in sports:

In a three game sweep, First Presbyterian Christian Academy volleyball defeated Memorial Day School in Savannah. Scores for the matches were 25-22, 25-12, and 25-2.

The team will next face Frederica Academy on Tuesday on St. Simons Island.

FPCA cross country finished strong in a meet held in Wayne County.

8th grader Alexandra Harper, finished first for the girls, followed by Breanna Finif, a freshman, and Mackenzie Buckley, a senior.

On the boys side, 8th grader Jovan Jackson led the boys, with senior Gavin Finif and junior Steven Young finishing strong.

Their next meet will be Thursday at Savannah Christian. The Highlanders are coached by Shane Smith.

FPCA football lost in a lopsided contest against St. Andrews on Friday night. The Lions controlled the contest from the start of the game and shut out the Highlanders, 49-0.

The FPCA junior ’Lander spirit squad performed at half time, bringing the preschool and elementary cheerleaders out on the field to keep the home fans cheering.

Next up, the Highlanders will face Brentwood School in Sandersville on Friday. FPCA football is coached by William Roberts.
