Georgia Southern puts its undefeated Sun Belt Conference mark on the line Saturday when the Eagles host New Mexico State for their homecoming game.

Georgia Southern (4-1 overall, 2-0 in SBC) is coming off a bye week. The Eagles’ last action was Oct. 3, when they beat Louisiana-Monroe 51-31 in Monroe. Having a week off has been better more often than not for the Eagles. According to gseagles.com, Georgia Southern is 26-10 coming off a bye week.

That success is compounded by the fact that it’s homecoming, during which the Eagles have a 26-6 record.

Running back Matt Breida has rushed for at least 149 yards in each of the last four games and has notched 10 touchdowns in that span.

The Aggies (0-5, 0-1) is scoring 24.8 points and allowing 47 points per game, according to nmstatesports.com. Two of their losses, however, have been to Southeastern Conference powers Florida and Ole Miss. They lost in overtime to UTEP and fell to Georgia State 34-32.
