The First Presbyterian Christian Academy boys’ basketball team suffered its first loss Thursday night, falling 91-84 to Coastal Home School at the St. James Sports Center.

It was a barn burner as the Hurricanes and Highlanders matched basket for basket to close the first quarter tied 21-21.
FPCA pulled ahead slightly in the second quarter to hold a 46-40 lead at intermission.

But the Hurricanes crept forward, outscoring the Highlanders in the final quarter 28-16.
Highlander head coach Shane Smith said his players didn’t close out the game.

Freshman Isaiah Scott had another 34-point game. JD Allen chipped in 14 and Simon Steel added 12 for the double digit scorers.

The Highlanders were participating in the Coaches vs. Cancer tournament held in Lyons this weekend. A full report of their games will be in Wednesday’s Coastal Courier.

The Lady ’Landers fell 38-6 in their second game of the season.
The FPCA girls are 0-2. The Highlander boys are 2-1 overall and 1-0 in Region 2-AA.
