The First Preparatory Christian Academy Highlanders are off to the GISA Class A State Championship series on Friday, May 6, against Thomas Jefferson Academy in Louisville. FPCA defeated Citizens Christian Academy in both games of a doubleheader last Friday in Douglas.

In game one, FPCA defeated CCA, 13-0, in just five innings. FPCA assistant coach Tony Harmon reported that Evan North and Jade Varnedoe Cooke combined to get the win on the mound.

Harmon said game two was a bit closer, but FPCA came out on top, 10-7. River North, Caleb Harmon and Cameron Eason combined to get the win on the mound.

The Highlanders came out swinging the bats in both games, and the entire starting lineup had multiple hits, according to the coaching staff. Cameron Eason had five hits, James Osteen and Evan North recorded four each, and Logan Dore earned three hits and five RBIs.

“It was big win for FPCA to set up a rematch of last year’s State Championship with Thomas Jefferson,” said Coach Harmon. “Thanks to all the FPCA fans who made the long drive to Douglas to support the team, and (we) hope to see them all next week in Louisville.”
