It was the second game of the season but their first home game as Hinesville’s C-Port Lady Hornets took their newly established home court at the Liberty County Armed Service Family YMCA.
Unfortunately the first-year Hornets took on an established Savannah Lady Warrior squad and lost 115-32.
"Right now I’m looking forward to building up a team both defensively and offensively," Ondre Frazier, the Hornet’s head coach said. "I’m really trying to get a feel for our needs. It’s our first year we are stepping up a little bit, but we need to step it up another notch."
The coach said his squad is still seeking players, especially forwards and point guards
"This is a tough league," he said. "We are going to have to mix it up (the defense). These ladies are real tough."
The coach said they may face a few teams from Florida and South Carolina, but the bulk of competitors will be from Savannah.
The Hornets will host two home games at the YMCA on June 13 and June 20, both at at 3:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 each and are available in advance at http://cporthornets.tripod.com or by calling (912) 228-9600. Children 8 and younger get in free with a paying adult.
