Lady Tiger honored for second year

Currently ranked seventh in Georgia for the 400-meter dash, Lady Tiger multi-sport athlete Quintunya Chapman knows a thing or two about winning. At a recent Georgia State meet, the junior sprinter earned three medals for the long jump, 200-meter dash and 400-meter dash.

On Friday afternoon, Chapman learned she had been named the Savannah Morning News’ Female Track Athlete of the Year for the second straight year.

The Savannah Morning News’ Male Track Athlete of the Year award went to Aaron (AJ) Bennett from Liberty County High School. The Panther discus thrower won first at state, hitting 184 feet, 4 inches — the best throw by a single inch.
