Liberty County football player Richard LeCounte has been named to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and USA Today All-State first teams.
The AJC named LeCounte to the Class AAAA All-State First Team on Dec. 28.

On New Year’s Eve, just a few hours before LeCounte took the field to play in the 2015 Rising Seniors Foundation Georgia Junior Bowl in Macon, USA Today announced its All-State First Team. LeCounte made the list for the defensive players.

According to news reports, LeCounte had a tooth knocked out during practice Monday for the Junior Bowl.
LeCounte handed the tooth to one of the coaches and kept on playing, telling reporters afterwards, “Never miss a play. … You can’t miss a play. If you are not dead, then you can’t miss a play.”

The Junior Bowl was broadcast on ESPN3.

According to the Rising Seniors Foundation’s website, LeCounte was listed on the roster of Team Dedication as a safety.
The opposing team, Team Commitment, defeated Team Dedication 21-18 in an intense matchup featuring the top junior players in the state of Georgia.

LeCounte ended up playing multiple positions, netting one reception for 11 yards, returning a kick for 18 yards, nabbing an interception for a 60-yard return and making five total tackles in the game.

According to the Rising Seniors’ website, Panther head coach Kirk Warner was in Macon with LeCounte as a defensive line coach for Team Commitment.
