Liberty County High School’s special teams came up big in the waning seconds of Friday night’s back-and-forth game against Statesboro at Donell Woods Stadium.
The Panthers blocked a low 43-yard field goal attempt with seconds remaining in the game to seal a 36-34 win.
Just two minutes earlier, Liberty trailed 34-30 and Statesboro had the ball near midfield when Markel Johnson intercepted a floating screen pass and ran it 42 yards for the score.
The loss was Statesboro’s 15th straight. Liberty County improved to 1-1.
