Liberty County played at Richmond Hill Friday night, closing out the regular season with a non-region game.

The Panthers dominated the Wildcats 53-14, but the big accomplishment was how they finished the season.

Liberty finished 7-3 overall and 3-1 in Region 3-AAAA. And since the Thomson Bulldogs beat Burke County 35-28, the Panthers are the second seed in the region.

Offensive coordinator Ryan Glazer said that means the Panthers will host the first round of the playoffs. The Macon Telegraph reported that game will be against Upson-Lee Friday.

Liberty came out on fire Friday, capitalizing on a fumble by Wildcat quarterback Brian Hughes. Panther all-round athlete Richard LeCounte recovered the ball and ran for 30 yards and a defensive touchdown.

Kicker Sidney Wilkinson hit the first of three extra points for the night. She missed two.

The Panthers added more points when Richmond Hill was forced to punt. Panther quarterback Jaalon Frazier completed a 46 yard touchdown pass to Jacquez Williams.

The Liberty team scored again off a 60 yard run by Elisha Polite but missed the PAT.

In the second quarter, LeCounte scored off a 23 yard run and Liberty converted for two points. The Panthers followed that with a 47 yard touchdown run by Williams.

The Wildcats finally answered with a touchdown run, but trailed 35-7.

Liberty answered when Williams made a 28 yard pass reception from LeCounte to take a 41-7 lead at the half.

The third quarter looked promising for the Wildcats who intercepted a Liberty pass. But Richmond Hill had to punt again.

The Wildcats did add points, however, off a 70 yard run by Hughes after Liberty was forced to punt.

Just shy of the fourth quarter, Polite ran in from three yards put to put Liberty up 47-14.

Adding the icing to the fourth quarter was from a 25 yard TD pass completion tossed by LeCounte to Williams.

Williams finished the game with 244 rushing yards on 11 carries and two touchdowns. He also had five receptions for 115 yards and two touchdowns. LeCounte had six carries for 92 yards and a touchdown. He was four of five in passing for 101 yards and two touchdowns.

Defensively, LeCounte also recovered a fumble for a touchdown. Polite had 101 rushing yards for two touchdowns.
