Local bowlers Hunter Miller, Joseph Yarbrough, TJ Standard and BJ Cedola all competed at the 2014 Georgia Games last weekend in Lawrenceville.
Standard brought home a silver medal, while Yarbrough won the bronze.
Standard competed in division 7, which is the highest youth division, with scratch averages of 190 or higher. Standard earned the silver after bowling a two-game scratch series totaling 467 (243, 224).
Yarbrough bowled in division four and earned a bronze after totaling 336 in his series.
The boys all bowled three games in the first round Saturday and advanced to Sunday’s final rounds.
Cedola competed in division 6 and scored 568 in his series to advance. Hunter Miller competed in division 5 and scored 622. Standard’s scratch on Saturday was 681, and Yarbrough totaled 507.
Sunday’s games were two-game series, which cut the competition to the top five bowlers, advancing Yarbrough and Standard to their medal-winning games.
Standard automatically qualified for this year’s Georgia Games after placing first in last year’s games, when he competed in division 5. Miller, Yarbrough and Cedola qualified for the 2014 Games by competing in the 48th annual Georgia Youth Championship in May and scoring high enough to earn entries into the Georgia Games.
