As 2011 winds down, the Courier is taking a look back at some of the more memorable sports moments and achievements of the year.
This week, the spotlight is on former Bradwell Institute and current New England Patriot football player Gary Guyton. Despite his busy NFL schedule, Guyton continues to keep his commitment of giving back to the community, especially children. For the second year in a row, Guyton returned to his native Hinesville and former high school to host a sports camp for kids. Guyton brought along a few of his NFL and former Georgia Tech teammates and spent a weekend in March participating in basketball games and football camps.
Guyton also formed the Gary Guyton Foundation, which will provide programs and scholarships to help kids in different communities. Guyton also spends a good portion of his off-time visiting children at different area hospitals. Guyton is currently in his fourth NFL season as a Patriots linebacker.
