5 Highlanders make GISA state track meet

Five track-and-field athletes will represent First Presbyterian Christian Academy at the Georgia Independent School Association state meet, which runs through Saturday in Albany.
Athletes had to place in the top four of their events at the Region 2-AA meet April 25 at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro in order to advance to the state meet.
Junior Lady ’Lander Asyria Daniels was the region champion in the triple jump and long jump.
She placed second in the 300-meter hurdles.
Sophomore Lady Lander Dayza Ingram earned the region championship in the shot put and placed third in the discus.
Junior Lady ’Lander Kelsy Higgason will compete in the shot put at state after placing fourth.
Senior Highlander Trevon Harris, who is competing in track and field for the first time in his high-school career, will compete at state in the discus and shot put after placing second at region in both events.
Senior Lyera Harris qualified to run in the 200 dash after a fourth-place finish at region.
