Scott’s All-Stars’ sixth-grade basketball team took second place during the South Georgia Summer League tournament June 30-July 2 in Savannah.
The tournament was the final event of the summer league, which started in May. According to All-Stars founder and coach Marcus Scott IV, the All-Stars went 4-1 in league play, with the one loss coming against local rival the South Georgia Kings. But the All-Stars avenged the loss by beating the SGK, 35-28, in the tournament’s semifinals.
The All-Stars lost the championship game to the Fernwood Falcons, 44-32.
The tourney featured 14 area teams.
Scott said the team played the tourney without starters Russell Dandy and Marcus Scott, who were at Kobe Bryant’s camp in California. Scott was in California with the two boys, while Khari Collins coached the rest of the team in Savannah.
Marcus Scott V was named the league’s MVP.  Daqaun Humphries, Marcus Scott V and Isaiah Scott were selected first-team all-league.
